Pour into YOU!

Several years ago, I had a pivotal moment in my life where I realized how much I poured into everyone else but ME!

Running is a great way to get clarity and release stress for me!

What does that mean exactly? Well, I gave all my energy, my love, my attention, my ALL to everyone but myself. Things quickly changed once I started pouring into me.

This may mean different things to different people. Pouring into you may mean….

  • getting in your work out
  • having a cup of coffee before everyone wakes up
  • taking a walk before or after work
  • reading a book/Bible
  • embracing new opportunities

My daily ‘pour’ is waking up with a grateful heart. Focusing on my daily blessings and taking care of my body by exercising every chance I get. While, it’s not every day I work out, I certainly have made it my go to at least 4 times a week.

Quality time with my bestie, Angelica!

Another ‘pour’ is getting my fill with those special in my life – my boys, family and my amazing friends.

Find out what you need that will fill your soul with joy and do it over and over!

Always come from a place of love!

Taking care of your mind, spirit and body isn’t selfish – it’s a blessing. Get out there and fill your heart with joy doing what you love most – whatever that may be to help YOU pour into YOU!

Why do I run?

I remember being at work on April 15, 2013, gathering news like I normally did, when an alert was issued of a possible bombing at the Boston Marathon. There were in fact two homemade bombs that killed three people.  Several hundred others were injured, including 16 others who lost limbs. Needless to say, it was a tough day at work and the weeks to follow.  I remember crying as I heard several inspirational stories from some individuals who lost limbs, saying they would run again.

That is the moment I decided I WILL RUN for those who can’t! I signed up for my first Aramco Half Marathon and completed my run in January 2014!

Fast forward to January 2018, I completed my 5th Aramco Half Marathon and my older son, Joshua, ran his third one.  He saw his mom tackle it and wanted to join in!

We all have our reasons on why we embark on OUR journeys. My story is simple but important because the hope those strangers shared to the world, inspired me to get moving.  So when I begin to feel tired during my long runs, I think of those who lost their lives and those who chose to fight back with vengeance to regain their life back and that keeps me going!

I will continue to run to stay healthy, to remember the victims and to inspire those around me that believe they can’t!

I bought this T-shirt from my amazing friend, Heidi Jones, who worked with an organization to raise funds for the victims of the bombing.

Enjoy the journey!

A girl’s weekend in San Antonio wasn’t what many would think it would be! Many would automatically think there would be dancing, festive beverages and just whooping it up in the fun city.  But no — not these moms! We thought it would be a great idea to run a 5K on Saturday and then a half-marathon on Sunday. AND of course once it was all over it was a GREAT idea! But let me talk about the journey to earn those medals!

We all completed the 5K with no problem.  I was happy I completed my run under 30 minutes and that is after I stopped along my run to take photos of things I found interesting.  I even stopped to dance to a Selena tune a band was playing. I took a selfie with the band because it made me happy and they loved that I stopped to enjoy it!

After our quick run, we decided to walk and take in the sights at the Mercado!  I ate that sweet bread from Mi Tierra and danced as we waited in line.  I ate that street taco and took in the sights and sounds with the girls!

Heck, I even ran into some high school friends I haven’t seen in 30 years!

Sunday rolled around and it was time to tackle the 13.1 miles! The Rock’n’ Roll Half Marathon had a tough route but it was entertaining along the way with entertainment.  I certainly could have lived without the downpour but I didn’t let it deter my spirit!  The musicians, mariachis and the complete strangers supporting us crazy runners along the way were amazing!  I was touched by so many,  I took selfies and videos with complete strangers.  My drenched self wanted to stop but my spirit wouldn’t allow me to give up!  I pushed on with all of the amazing people cheering us on!  So thank you to my girlfriends and to all of the strangers who were part of my journey in San Antonio! I truly ENJOYED earning my BLING!
